HR Manager (m/f/d) – Startup Environment

Key Responsibilities
Hiring & Onboarding
- Own end-to-end recruitment for internal roles and expert/partner onboarding
- Improve hiring processes, interview structure, decision-making, and documentation
- Deliver professional onboarding plans and ensure fast, smooth ramp-up
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage HR administration: contracts coordination, personnel records, HR documentation, offboarding
- Support managers with performance check-ins, feedback cycles, and development plans
- Build scalable HR processes suited for a startup environment
Policies, Compliance & Employee Relations
- Develop and maintain HR policies, templates, and guidelines (remote work, leave, conduct, etc.)
- Ensure HR compliance under German and/or Dutch employment practices (with external payroll/legal partners as needed)
- Handle employee relations topics with a pragmatic, people-first approach
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Coordination
- Support salary benchmarking and compensation structure development
- Coordinate with payroll/accounting providers (DE/NL), track changes and approvals
- Maintain clean HR reporting and dashboards for leadership
Culture & Internal Enablement
- Support team culture, internal communication, and leadership routines
- Implement lightweight learning and development practices aligned with business needs
Minimum Requirements (Must-Have)
- 5+ years HR experience (HR Generalist/HR Manager/People Operations), ideally in a startup/scale-up
- Hands-on recruitment and HR operations experience (end-to-end)
- Strong knowledge of HR processes and documentation standards
- Jurisdiction requirement: working knowledge of German HR practices or Dutch HR practices (ideally both)
- Excellent communication skills and high confidentiality/integrity
- Professional English required; German and/or Dutch is a strong plus
- Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel and Word (reports, templates, tracking)
Nice to Have
- Experience working with external payroll providers and cross-border teams (DE/NL)
- HRIS/ATS familiarity (e.g., Personio, HiBob, Greenhouse, Lever, etc.)
- Experience supporting contractors, freelancers, and partner networks
- Basic employment-law familiarity (in coordination with legal counsel)
